What to Look for in Math Software
Finding good math software is difficult; some programs offer fun games whereas others offer volumes of relevant content. Rarely will you find both in the same software. Look for a program that can satisfy your specific needs. If the student textbook and class instruction is confusing or lacking, you may want to look at a comprehensive math program that explains concepts in detail. However, if the textbook is helpful and the classroom instruction is excellent, consider a math game or drill program to increase speed and accuracy while providing educational entertainment.
While comparing game programs with content programs is complicated, we looked at the teaching tools included in the program as well as the topics covered. We also evaluated how easy the program is to use and what kind of product support is offered.
